Luis Anxo Rodríguez Vázquez occupies a revered, cult-like status as a legendary figure in modern Spanish viticulture. Operating out of his home village of Arnoia, he is widely recognized as one of the chief architects of the quality renaissance in the Ribeiro Denominación de Origen (D.O.) in Galicia, Spain. After decades of labor, his highly allocated white and red cuvées routinely grace the lists of top wine capitals worldwide, establishing Ribeiro as a true benchmark for age-worthy, terroir-driven Spanish wine.

Rodríguez’s work with white grapes focuses primarily on Treixadura, which acts as the aromatic, structured backbone of his blends. He couples this with incredibly rare, indigenous varieties like Lado, Albariño, Torrontés, and Godello. His white wines are crafted using native yeast fermentations and undergo extensive aging on fine lees inside neutral French oak barrels. This slow maturation yields texturally rich, waxy whites that possess an uncanny ability to age beautifully for decades in the bottle.

Our 2 Pack Includes:

2021 Luis Anxo Rodriguez Vazquez, 'Escolma - Viña de Martin' Ribeiro Blanco. 'Viña de Martín Escolma' Blanco is produced only in exceptional vintages from his oldest, lowest-yielding vines in Arnoia. The blend is dominated by native Treixadura and rounded out with Lado, Albariño, and Torrontés, all grown on steep terraces of decomposed granite. To develop its profound structure, the wine undergoes indigenous yeast fermentation and spends 12 months on its lees in fine oak casks. It is then aged in bottle for an additional 3 years, resulting in a deeply complex, age-worthy white defined by vibrant acidity, layered stone fruit, and a distinct saline minerality.

2021 Luis Anxo Rodriguez Vazquez, 'A Torna Dos Pasos' Ribeiro Tinto. Escolma is produced from a field blend of 55% Brancellao, and roughly equal parts Caiño Longo, Caiño Redondo and Ferrol from the lowest yielding old vines planted on steep south-facing granite hillsides in Arnoia. Escolma means “selection” in Gallego. This top cuvée is only produced in excellent vintages. It was wild yeast fermented in barrel with some whole clusters, raised in a mix of new and old 300 liter French oak barrels for a minimum of 12 months, and further aged in the bottle for 36 months. Deeply cerebral and highly enjoyable.
