About Us

Flor Wines is a retail wine shop located at 825 NW Glisan St. in downtown Portland, Oregon. It is the brainchild of friends and business partners Andy Fortgang (Co-Owner and Wine Director of Le Pigeon, Canard) and Sergio Licea (former Wine Director of Little Bird Bistro).

 
More than a traditional shop, at Flor, you can discover lesser known bottles, winemakers, stories, and regions, all while seeking expert advice and conversation. The idea of Flor was born out of the pandemic, after Fortgang launched cellar sales at Le Pigeon and found joy in matching people with the perfect wines for home. No longer able to pour tableside and strike up a conversation, the cellar sales provided a way to stay connected to people through good wine.

  “Something that kept me energized and excited during the middle of the pandemic was the opportunity to outfit people with the best wines to enjoy at home through our cellar sales. Whether they were doing take home meals from Le Pigeon, cooking a special dish and looking for the perfect pairing, or just making the best out of a really tough time. Wines are meant to bring people together, and Flor is a place that does just that,” —Andy

Flor was designed with the customer and restaurant hospitality in mind, a place where you can wander the aisles with as much or as little guidance as you desire. The  team’s knowledge of wines and expertise is paired with their excellence in hospitality, resulting in an intimate wine shop that feels more like a bookstore, where there’s something new to discover around every corner

 “When Andy and I began brainstorming about a bottle shop, we both wanted to approach things differently, more from a restaurant hospitality perspective. Like an old bookshop, at Flor we want people to explore, to discover, to learn, or be surprised. You can never learn all there is to know about wine - that’s the fun part! We want to provide a place to keep learning, and above all, find mighty fine wines,” Sergio

 

At the critically acclaimed restaurants Le Pigeon and Canard, Fortgang has cultivated award-winning beverage programs, and has been recognized as one of the country’s top sommeliers by Food & Wine Magazine. At Flor, Fortgang and Licea are leveraging their collective 15 years of experience and knowledge of the wine industry and their long relationship with distributors to stock bottles that are unavailable elsewhere or overlooked by others.
