Wine Advocate:

"Blanc de Blancs Chemin de Reims comes from a south-facing single-vineyard site rooted in sandy, iron-rich soils, with vines planted between 1980 and 1995.

Disgorged in April 2026 with a dosage of 3.6 grams per liter, Chartogne's 2021 Blanc de Blancs Chemin de Reims unfurls from the glass with aromas of Granny Smith apple, nashi pear and lemon oil, mingled with notes of freshly baked bread. Medium-bodied, incisive and tightly wound, the palate is chalky and marked by the cool profile of the vintage, animated by bright acidity and culminating in a long, saline finish. As ever, the fruit was sourced from this south-facing vineyard with iron-rich sandy soils and was vinified for nine months in wood.

Based in the village of Merfy, in the Montagne de Reims, Alexandre Chartogne has been at the helm of his 11-hectare family estate since 2006 and has quickly become one of the grower Champagne movement’s most important figures. It is symbolic that the first wine Chartogne produced is Les Barres, made from ungrafted vines."
