Benjamin Zidarich founded his namesake estate in 1988 in the rugged, wind-swept limestone cliffs of the Carso (Karst) region in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy. Driven by a deep commitment to natural winemaking, he famously hand-carved a spectacular five-story underground cellar entirely out of the local bedrock to provide optimal aging conditions. The winery specializes in showcasing indigenous grapes like Vitovska and Malvasia, using prolonged skin contact and native yeasts to craft complex, terroir-driven orange wines. Today, Zidarich is globally recognized as a pioneer of low-intervention viticulture, celebrated for capturing the raw, saline, and mineral essence of the Adriatic coast.
