Notes from the producer:
"A blend of 100% Grüner Veltliner. Wonderfully dry, delicately fruity, and incredibly refreshing. Herbs, citrus, a hint of pepper, a hint of currants, apple and pear notes, and a fine mousse. Characterized by serious freshness and dark spice.
Sourced from various locations around Poysdorf from deep, loamy loess soil. The vines are up to 49 years old, medium-high training, 4000 vines/hectare, which harvest hand-picked in September 2022.
The Taubenschuss winery is a monolith in the Weinviertel wine landscape and is now successfully run by Markus and Thomas Taubenschuss, the fifth generation of the family. With the active support of their parents, Monika and Helmut, who are still actively involved in various areas such as marketing and production, the
Taubenschuss family still manages their wines. As one of the first wineries in Austria, the ancestors of Maria Taubenschuss and their son, Anton Taubenschuss III, began bottling wine in 1941.
The overriding credo is natural, holistic viticulture,
consciously avoiding the use of synthetic chemical pesticides and commercial fertilizers. Instead, the estate relies on its own compost production for organic fertilization and sustainable vineyard grazing with specially bred sheep.
Out of respect for nature and the plants, the harvest is traditionally carried out exclusively by hand.
The winery is certified organic since the 2023 vintage and recently joined the Austrian Traditional Wine Estates (ÖTW). Its wines and sparkling wines have received high ratings both nationally and internationally, including from FALSTAFF, A LA CARTE, and "Robert Parker – The Wine Advocate."
