Wein-Erbhof Stein is a legendary, low-intervention estate in the Mosel region, championed by passionate biologist and winemaker Dr. Ulrich “Ulli” Stein. Deeply dedicated to historical preservation, Stein focuses on farming the region's most extreme, non-mechanizable terrace vineyards strictly by hand. For the ‘Red Light’ Spätburgunder, the grapes are meticulously hand-harvested from dizzyingly steep hillside parcels surrounding the villages of Alf and St. Aldegund. These specific vineyards feature ancient, highly dramatic slopes rich in blue and gray Devonian slate soils.
