Produttori del Barbaresco is one of the most successful co-op cellars in Italy. Its 52 members cover around 250 acres of vineyards, many among the most coveted Cru’s in the region. With roots dating back to Domizio Cavazza and the inception of the region, to study the history of this estate is to study the history of Barbaresco itself. The Produttori employ traditional winemaking techniques in the cellar, and their focused single vineyard Riserva bottlings truly capture the personality of each Cru.
The Produttori’s nine crus or vineyards lie on steep slopes composed of the classic firm clay and limestone marl of the Langhe. Those from the northernmost chain of hills—Ovello, Montefico and Montestefano–have a higher clay content and are known for their rich earthy, meaty flavors, full body and firm structure.
To the south are Pajé and Moccagatta, noted for their intensity and elegance.
