Notes from The Source Imports:
"Pierre Morey is a living legend in Burgundy. He was the régisseur (winemaker and vineyard manager) for the famed Domaine Leflaive starting in 1988 and ending in July of 2008. During his time at this notorious estate, he converted both Domaine Leflaive and his own estate vineyards to biodynamic farming and winemaking starting in 1991 and officially recognized by 1997. He is responsible for producing some of the greatest white wines in the history of Burgundy."
From Andy:
The estate is now firmly under the direction of Pierre's daughter, Anne. Like her father she believes deeply in biodynamics and the importance of farming in creating a terroir-driven wine. She speaks of wine in abstracts that make sense once you appreciate the deep complexity of these wines - they cannot be encapsulated by tasting notes.
From a steep site on rocky soils with limestone bedrock, close by to several famous 1er crus, and considered by many to be the one of the best village-level vineyards in Meursault and an honorary 1er cru (it wasn’t included because it was mostly unplanted after phylloxera). This vineyard is up high and harvested late, resulting in a more restrained and mineral Meursault.
I tasted this at the domaine in the fall of 2023 and it was cool and coiled. Lovely green tinged fruit, super stony, with an electric elongated finish.
