Domaine Patrick Baudouin was originally founded in 1920 by the grandparents of Patrick Baudouin, who later returned to the estate in 1990 to revitalize the family's abandoned vines. Located in Chaudefonds-sur-Layon, the domain spans 13.5 hectares of certified organic vineyards across the historic "Black Anjou" terroirs of the Loire Valley. Baudouin is a passionate advocate for regional authenticity, leading a successful campaign against the practice of chaptalization (adding sugar) to preserve the pure expression of late-harvest Chenin Blanc. Following more than three decades at the helm, Baudouin transitioned ownership of the estate to fellow Loire winemaker Anatole de La Brosse in 2026, though he remains actively involved in crafting its exceptional dry and sweet wines.
