M. Chapoutier 'La Bernardine' Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2022 is crafted from organically grown vines rooted in a unique tapestry of classic Southern Rhône terroirs. The grapes are sourced from old quaternary terraces covered in the region's famous galets roulés—large, round Alpine pebbles left by ancient riverbeds that radiate heat to ensure optimal ripening. These surface stones overlay a complex subsurface of Miocenian safres and Villafranchian clay matrices, which impart a profound, distinctively stony minerality to the wine. For this particular 2022 vintage, the principal varietals were specifically selected from opposing terroirs to maximize structural balance. The vibrant Clairette is harvested from the extreme east of the appellation to lock in energetic freshness, while the rich Grenache Blanc is sourced from the extreme west to build the cuvée's deep, honeyed fruit profile.
