Weingut Hirsch is an acclaimed estate in Austria’s Kamptal region, celebrated for crafting intensely mineral-driven, site-specific white wines under the leadership of winemaker Johannes Hirsch. The winery transitioned fully to certified biodynamic farming in 2006, prioritizing natural vine health and minimal intervention to let the land speak clearly. For this specific Riesling, fruit is sourced entirely from the historic, southwest-facing terraces of the Ried Gaisberg vineyard near Zöbing. This premier site features an ancient geology of weathered mica schist and siliceous brown earth, which imparts a distinct, chiseled minerality to the grapes. By meticulously hand-harvesting from this unique terroir, Hirsch creates a crystalline, long-lived wine that beautifully captures the essence of the Danube region.
