Founded in 1864 in the heart of Monforte d'Alba, Giacomo Fenocchio is a venerable, fifth-generation family estate celebrated for its unwavering commitment to traditional Piemontese winemaking. Today, winemaker Claudio Fenocchio meticulously manages 14 hectares of organically farmed, prestigious estate vineyards to craft authentic, terroir-driven expressions. Among these prized holdings are the historic parcels sourced for their exceptional Barbera d'Alba Superiore, which features 30-year-old vines planted in a tiny, 2.5-hectare plot split between the acclaimed Bussia Sottana and Pianpolvere Crus. Nestled at an altitude of 300 meters with a western exposure, these specific vineyards thrive in complex "Elveziano" soils composed of ancient blue marl, clayey sediments, and tuff. By utilizing non-interventionist cellar practices and aging the wine in large Slavonian oak casks, the family beautifully preserves the intense dark fruit and vibrant pedigree unique to this historic Monforte terroir.
