Founded in 2003 by siblings Tiziana, Clemente, and Giacomo, Cantina Funaro is a certified organic, eco-sustainable estate located in the Trapani province of Western Sicily. The winery draws from 60 hectares of family vineyards split between the historic winemaking hills of Salemi and Santa Ninfa, sitting at elevations between 150 and 450 meters above sea level. Specifically, the Nero d'Avola used for their red and rosato expressions is sourced from the low-lying Salemi estate, where nutrient-dense, loamy-clay soils at 140 meters of elevation impart vital minerality and structural elegance. By combining traditional organic farming with low-intervention cellar techniques, the family crafts pristine, single-varietal wines that authentically reflect their Mediterranean landscape.
