The Fabre family in Corbieres presides over the 14th century Chateau de Luc, one of their five estate projects. They have melded the traditional and the modern in adding concrete eggs and amphora to their winery operations, while preserving the ancient underground cellars much as they were over 600 years ago.
About the cuvee:
"Lux de Luc" is an assemblage of 80% Carignan and 20% Mourvedre grown at the Chateau de Luc estate vineyard. While soils vary at the estate, they are all derived from Miocene limestone and are low in fertility, allowing for naturally low-yielding vines. The wine is made using partial carbonic maceration, aged for eight months in concrete vats, and bottled with no added SO2 at any point during winemaking.
