Founded in 2015 by forestry engineers José Manuel Beneitez and Liliana Fernández, El Hato y El Garabato is an artisanal winery located in the remote village of Formariz within the Arribes del Duero Natural Park. The estate meticulously manages 8 to 12 hectares of organically farmed land divided into 32 small, high-altitude plots rooted in sandy granite and schist soils. Their production focuses on recovering nearly extinct indigenous varieties from exceptional old vines ranging from 80 to 120 years in age. By embracing a philosophy of minimal intervention, the team preserves the raw character of the region's rare terroir to craft distinctive, balanced wines.
