Established in 1988 by Alain Le Capitaine and now managed alongside his brother Christophe and son Florian, Domaine Le Capitaine is a family-owned estate in the heart of the Vouvray AOC. The estate spans 28 hectares of Chenin Blanc vines primarily situated on the south-facing slopes of Rochecorbon, where they benefit from a unique microclimate moderated by the nearby Loire River. Their vineyard sourcing focuses on diverse terroirs composed of tuffeau (chalky limestone), clay, and silica soils, which are farmed with sustainable and organic practices to ensure precise parcel-by-parcel expression. This commitment to quality culminates in the estate's historic 11th-century troglodyte cellars, where wines are aged to preserve their characteristic freshness and mineral depth.
