Established in 1993 by Christine Dupuy—the first female winemaker in the appellation—Domaine Labranche-Laffont has become a benchmark for organic viticulture in Madiran. The estate spans 23 hectares of clay-limestone slopes in Maumusson-Laguian, featuring a rare heritage of 150-year-old pre-phylloxera Tannat vines alongside Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. By focusing on low yields and gentle extraction, the winery produces deeply concentrated yet elegant wines that emphasize the unique mineral character and longevity of the Southwest’s most historic terroirs.
This Madiran (tradition) is a blend of 70% Tannat, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Grapes are sourced from organic-certified vineyards in Maumusson-Laguian, where 40-year-old vines thrive in silty clay and limestone soils.
