Pascal Mugneret believes this to be the finest terroir of the domaine, and the finest expression of his craft. Pascal’s Aux Cras and La Richemone are adjacent but La Richemone is higher on the slope. It is the domaine's steepest parcel and it is plowed by horse. Richemone is composed of two words: riche (mighty, rich) and mone, which sounds like none (nun, sister). Did the parcel belong to rich nuns? It is likely since the nuns at the Abbey du Lieu-Dieu had vineyards in Nuits-Saint-Georges. (Source: Marie-Hélène Landrieu-Lussigny).
Wine Advocate:
"The 2023 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru La Richemone is the most brooding wine in the range—as usual. Unwinding in the glass with notes of dark berries, incense, grilled squab and orange rind, it's full-bodied, dense and concentrated, with a rich, layered mid-palate and a long, carnal finish."
