Domaine Cottenceau is an exciting, young estate located in the Côte Chalonnaise region of Burgundy, France. Established in 2021, the winery is run by Maxime Cottenceau, a talented young winemaker who trained under the legendary Vincent Dureuil-Janthial. Maxime farms his old vines organically, following the lunar calendar to respect the natural rhythm of the land. His meticulous, low-intervention approach in both the vineyard and the cellar results in beautifully precise, mineral-driven white wines that perfectly express the unique limestone soils of Montagny.
The Vigne du Soleil vineyard sits on a south-and-southeast-facing slope that catches optimal sunlight for ripening grapes. Its soil consists of rich, dark clay layered over limestone, which gives the wine its deep flavors and crisp mineral traits. A unique, hidden underground water source also keeps the 35-year-old vines perfectly hydrated during hot summers.
