Domaine Bessin-Tremblay is a benchmark estate located in the village of La Chapelle-Vaupelteigne, meticulously run by Jean-Claude Bessin and his son Romain. Renowned for their minimalist, low-intervention approach, the estate crafts chiseled, deeply textured expressions of Chablis utilizing long lees-aging and indigenous yeasts. The "Vieilles Vignes" bottling is sourced from exceptionally prized plots of old vines planted between 1950 and 1974 that sit on north-and-south-facing slopes surrounding their home village. These historic vines dig their roots deep into Chablis' famous Kimmeridgian limestone and fossilized oyster shell soils, yielding low grape quantities with intense aromatic concentration. The result is a vibrant, mineral-driven wine that beautifully balances power, racy acidity, and a distinctively marine, saline finish.
