Notes from Becky Wasserman & Co.:
"0.4 hectare plot, planted from 1907 to 1917. Chalky clay soil. 100% de-stemmed, crushed, ambient yeast fermentation. Aged 16 months in barrels (30-60% new)."
Neal Martin:
"The 2024 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes was reduced to three barrels this year (in 2023 there was eight and a half). This has a delightful bouquet, quite tender, then growing the glass with raspberry and cranberry fruit, crushed stone and hint of oyster shells emerging with time. Superb delineation as usual/ The palate is silky smooth on the entry, perfectly pitched acidity, full of tension and energy. Wonderful mineralité on the finish, this is an outstanding Charmes-Chambertin, just that there is less than half as usual and don't get your hopes up for 2025 either."
