A relic of another time, the "Zona Falset" of Tarragona became the now well-known Montsant DO in the early 2000s. Celler de Capcanes has been a leader in the region since their inception in 1933, and their "Mas Donis" cuvee is now a benchmark old vine cuvee in Montstant. Their 1998 was an early example of a style of wine that has come to largely define the region: a blend of Garnacha, Syrah and Carinena, aged partially in new barriques.
