Buondonno's Chianti Classico is well, classic! Bright red cherry fruit notes are accompanied by dried oregano, bay leaf and thyme, with earthy undertones. Fermentation takes place in a mixture of concrete and stainless steel vats, while elevage occurs in a mixture of neutral 228 liter Burgundian barriques and larger format barrels. The result is a softened texture on Sangiovese's potentially prickly tannins, without any flavor influence derived from new oak. A versatile, mid-weight wine with bright acidity, this will pair wonderfully with anything that includes a tomato sauce.
