Located on the rugged, sun-drenched island of Hvar in the Adriatic Sea, Zlatan Otok is an acclaimed Croatian winery founded by the late Zlatan Plenković. Known for pioneering modern Dalmatian winemaking, the winery produces highly regarded wines, particularly from indigenous varietals like Pošip and Plavac Mali. Their vineyards are famously situated on extremely steep, terraced, south-facing slopes overlooking the sea, requiring all work to be done meticulously by hand. This challenging terroir, characterized by rocky limestone soil and abundant sunshine, imparts a distinct minerality and robust character.
Pošip presents a complex aromatic profile of dried stone fruits, anise, and white floral notes, hinting at its sunny Dalmatian origins. The palate is defined by its architectural structure: a rich, full-bodied texture is balanced by vibrant, saline acidity that frames a mineral-driven finish reminiscent of a coastal breeze.
