Producer notes from Weingut Firmenich:
"Nestled in the rolling hills of southern Styria, surrounded by steep vineyards, is the Firmenich winery and the family-run Buschenschank, right on the Southern Styrian Wine Route. Wine has been close to us for five generations. This can be seen in the care, the sustainable and organic management with which we tend our vines, process their grapes and thus form the foundation for wines with strong character. But it is also due to the location. Here at Steinberg, in the hilly landscape in the heart of southern Styria, you are surrounded by vineyards. And right in the middle: our Buschenschank, which we look after with just as much love. With us, enjoyment is really never far away."
About the cuvee:
"This Pinot Blanc bears the unmistakable signature of its unique terroir: a millennia-old coral reef. Its characteristic minerality and fine taste are a tribute to the calcareous soils and the legacy of the ancient primeval sea."
Grown on limestone based soils that are 3 million years old, this Pinot Blanc is full of tension and vibrant acidity. It was aged in large format, neutral wooden barrels.
