Originally from Bordeaux, Thibaud Boudignon began to make wine under his own name from a scant 3.5 ha in the heart of Anjou and Savennieres in 2009. Knowing that the quality of his fruit was of most importance, he committed himself absolutely to the health of his vines, choosing to farm organically and spend the majority of his time in the vineyards.

La Vigne Cendree — "the ashen vine" — is one of his most distinctive parcels. It's a tiny half-hectare plot perched high above the Chateau de Varennes, ringed by trees, sitting on a singular mosaic of purple schist, granite, and clayey silt. Thibaud bought the plot in 2014 and replanted with massale selection the following year.
