Notes from Strade Bianche:
"Located on the first hills of Monferrato Casalese, near the town of Casale Monferrato, Tenuta Migliavacca was founded in 1921 by Enrico Brezza, Francesco's Great Grandfather. It wasn't until 1933 that Enrico's son, Andrea, decided to plant the first vineyards and build the first cellar. Luigi, Andrea's son, later increased the vineyard area to 35 hectares in the early 1960s. Tenuta Migliavacca is a true family operation where the upmost respect and care is paid to the land.
The grapes are picked by hand in the middle of September. Fermented in concrete for
about a week. The concrete tanks have no temperature control and no commercial
yeasts or other additives are included. After fermentation the wine is aged in large, old
Slavonian Oak barrels for 8 months. After aging, the wine is bottled unfined and
unfiltered.
