Tenuta La Viola is a family winery nestled in the hills of Bertinoro, Emilia-Romagna, founded in 1962 by the Gabellini family. Committed to producing wine that expresses its land, they have practiced certified organic farming since 1999 and began incorporating biodynamic methods in 2018. The 12-hectare estate sits at 200 meters above sea level with southern exposure, benefiting from cooling breezes and clay-limestone soils containing ancient marine sediments.
The family focuses on indigenous varieties like Sangiovese, Albana, and the rare, aromatic Famoso grape, with vineyard work and harvesting done entirely by hand. Their commitment to natural processes extends to the cellar, where they use spontaneous fermentations and minimal intervention to create wines that express a vibrant, natural character.
