Brachetto is one of the rarest, and most underrated grapes in Piemonte. Prized for its aromatics, it is mainly used as a low ABV, sweet fizzy wine: think the red version of Moscato d’Asti. This bright, bone-dry light red bursts with highly aromatic notes of fresh rose petals, wild strawberries, and a touch of white pepper. The palate delivers crunchy red currant fruit and lively acidity, grounded by fine tannins and a clean, mineral-driven finish. It is an exceptionally vibrant and refreshing expression of the Brachetto grape.
Sottimano is a prestigious, family-run estate founded in 1975 by Rino Sottimano in the Neive commune of Barbaresco, Piedmont. Now managed by Rino's son Andrea, the winery is highly respected for its low-intervention, traditional approach to winemaking and its commitment to organic farming. They exclusively use wild yeasts, avoid fining or filtration, and craft expressive, terroir-driven wines that emphasize elegance and purity over power.
