Founded in 1992 by Pedro Peciña Crespo, former vineyard manager at the legendary La Rioja Alta, Bodegas Hermanos Peciña is a stalwart protector of Rioja’s classic winemaking traditions. The family-run estate manages 50 hectares of sustainably farmed vineyards in the high-altitude San Vicente de la Sonsierra zone, known for its limestone-rich soils. They are distinguished by their labor-intensive "old-school" methods, including manual gravity-fed racking every six months and extended aging in neutral American oak far beyond legal requirements. This patient approach yields authentic, silky reds that favor elegance and complex "tertiary" flavors over modern, oak-heavy styles.
The Finca Iscorta is the winery's most prized single vineyard, located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra at an elevation of 500 meters. This 11-hectare site features 50-year-old vines planted in calcareous clay soil with a north-facing orientation, which provides the natural ventilation needed to produce highly concentrated grapes.
