Based in the northern Willamette Valley, Semillas Farm Winery is the passion project of winemaker and farmer Sterling Whitted, who focuses on organic farming and minimal intervention. The winery produces "soulful" expressions of Northwest fruit by sourcing from distinct sites like the Roxboro Vineyard in the Columbia Valley for its Sauvignon and the Dion Vineyard in the Laurelwood District for its Pinot Gris. A hallmark of the winemaking process is the use of extended skin maceration, with certain orange wines like this Sauvignon Blanc spending 21 days on skins and stems to develop deep savory and tropical notes. These limited-production bottlings often undergo spontaneous fermentation in concrete tanks, where they may age for several months before being bottled with little to no sulfur.
