Sacred Shore was founded in 2021 by winemakers Andrew Riechers and John Soares, born from a shared passion for Galician wines and Oregon's distinctive terroir. For their Mencia, they source grapes from the Threemile Vineyard in the Columbia Gorge, where the vines are planted in Cherryhill Loam soils. The vineyard's position, facing east-northeast and experiencing dramatic diurnal shifts and strong winds, highlights a unique mineral depth in the resulting wine. The project reflects the winemakers' mission to explore new varieties in Oregon's diverse landscape and create wines that convey a strong sense of place.
