Ronco del Gnemiz, owned and managed by Serena Palazzolo and her family, is a highly regarded winery situated on the Rosazzo hill in Friuli. Adhering to biodynamic principles, they produce limited quantities of distinctive, high-quality wines that beautifully express their unique terroir. The estate's vineyards are located on the area's prized "Ponca" soil, a complex mixture of marl and sandstone that, combined with the region's climate and sea breezes, imparts bright acidity and a strong mineral character to their wines. Serena's meticulous, hands-on approach allows each plot to express its individuality, with minimal intervention in both the vineyard and cellar.
The Friulano grapes for 'San Zuan' come from three small, south-facing parcels on the Rosazzo hill, where vines range from 20 to 60 years old. These vineyards are planted on the region's classic Ponca soil, a mineral-rich mixture of marl and sandstone that helps maintain high acidity in the fruit. The location benefits from the dual influence of cooling sea breezes from the Adriatic and protection from the Alps, resulting in grapes with impressive aromatic complexity
