NV Domaine Moltes Crémant d'Alsace - Alsace, France
Impressions: Alsace is among the great Crémant producers in France and this one is a textbook examples. Opens with notes of green pears, chamomile, and almond blossoms. A lively acidity introduces compact bubbles that form an elegant mousse that sways towards a dry, fruity and slightly savory finish. A wonderful aperitif, try it with soft cheeses like brie, or camembert.
2019 Domaine de la Pépière 'Château-Thébaud' Muscadet - Loire Valley, France
Impressions: This single vineyard is one of the finest cru's in the Muscadet region, and Pépière treats it accordingly with a minimum of nearly 4 years aging in tank before bottling. Enticing aromas of lemon pulp, wet stones, and oyster shells evolve from the glass. The palate shines with its mineral-forward, slightly rich texture that descends towards a crisp, food-friendly saline and flinty finish.
2020 José Antonio Garcia 'Unculín' Bierzo Blanco - Castilla y Leon, Spain
Impressions: We love Spanish whites during the winter for their weight and ripeness which this one delivers. Ripe citrus, almond blossoms, honey and marjoram greet from the glass. The palate is silky and rich, but tamed by its energetic acidity that carries it towards a savory, floral and salty finish.
2021 Domaine des Closiers 'Les Closiers' Saumur-Champigny - Loire Valley, France
Impressions: Proving that great wine can come from a young estate is that wonderful effort, representing just the 3rd vintage from Closiers. Equal parts fruity and earthy with aromas of cassis, blackberry compote, nasturtium, dried violets, cigar box and green bell peppers. The palate is greeted by a fresh acidity that introduces a juicy, silky texture that gives way to a light tannic touch. Savory and spicy on the finish to inspire hearty food pairings.
2022 Luigi Ferrando Canavese Rosso - Piemonte, Italy
Impressions: When you need to reach for something warm and cozy, this Nebbiolo based blend should do the trick. Cherry compote, truffles, iron, sandalwood, dried rose and sage evolve from the glass. A lovely concentration greets the palate, introducing a silky texture that glides towards a velvety tannic touch. A fruity, savory finish with a touch of spice makes for versatile food pairings.
2021 Rabasse Charavin 'Cuvee Laure' Cotes du Rhone - Southern Rhone, France
Impressions: Hearty notes of blackberries, and cherry liqueur hang over savory notes of bacon-wrapped figs, black olives and herbs de provence. The palate is rich yet smooth with a warming, silky full body that leans into a supple tannic grip. The finish is earthy, slightly smoky, peppery and herbal, perfect for red meat based dishes.
