Bruno Clair represents the 6th generation or his family to make wine in Burgundy. His sons Edouard (vines) and Arthur (cellar) the 7th. The wines have always been great, but are achieving new heights with the last few vintages. Edouard and Arthur have move to organics in the vineyards and more refinement in the cellar. The wines' style haven't changed, but their vibrancy and clarity have been amped up.
Notes from Becky Wasserman Imports:
"This plot above Les Bonnes Mares, southeast-facing, 320m average altitude, presents a remarkable as the soil is non-existent: the vines (planted in 1980) are planted directly on the limestone bedrock and do very well there; the roots manage to find crevices between the stones and the rock strata to plunge deeply in search of water and nutrients."
Andy's impression from barrel (Nov '23)
"Dark berry fruit, a hint of lead pencil, and cola spice on the nose. A joyful, vibrant, and juicy palate, with notes of tart red beries. Nice acidity and length."
