ARRIVING END OF DECEMBER 

A transplant to the Langhe from Germany, Philine has worked alongside some of the top producers in Barolo. She makes just tiny amounts of Nebbiolo currently, though a Barolo from the Preda vineyard  Philine trained as a viticulturist and has worked in both Austria and the Alto Adige before finding her way to Barolo. Her wines are classic, elegant and traditional.

" The Philine Isabelle 2021 Barolo Preda... compared to the previous vintage, this edition reveals greater depth and more inner richness. The 2020 vintage saw a classic fermentation, but small tweaks were made in 2021, including the introduction of 10% whole cluster, a practice this vintner favors. In fact, although risky in a cooler vintage such as 2024 that might result in pronounced green tones, one barrel of whole-cluster fruit was included in the blend last year. Getting back to 2021, no leaves were pulled and no green harvest was executed. Philine Isabelle's idea was to underline tonality in the wine, especially the high notes, because as she puts it, the low tones are dominate in the hot vintages. "It's like using salt and pepper to bring out flavors," she says. She is inspired by producers such as Domaine Michel Lafarge and Domaine George Roumier. This wine offers great intensity, focus and a classic Nebbiolo tannic backbone.."
