Notes from North Berkeley Imports:

"The star of the estate, ‘Selezione 123’ is a single-vineyard selection (the plot is named ‘123’), one that highlights Patrizia’s highest-altitude and oldest vines (planted in 1988). Smoky and suave, with fine-grained tannins and loads of heady black fruits. Elegance and power at once!

There is a saying, if you want to do something well, do it yourself, Patrizia embodies this as the winemaker, vineyard manager, and owner; she is the epicenter of the estate. Although winemaking has been a tradition is Patrizia’s family for generations, when she set out to make wine, her family said that it wasn’t “women’s work”. This did not dissuade her at all, and she got straight to work buying her estate in 1989. Since then she has been producingprolific Brunello despite it being “men’s work”.
