Founded in 1996 by pioneering winemakers Telmo Rodríguez and Pablo Eguzkiza, Molino Real was established to revive the historic "Mountain Wines" of Málaga that were once as esteemed as the finest wines of Burgundy. The winery focuses on the high-altitude Axarquía region, where they work to preserve ancient viticultural traditions and nearly forgotten indigenous vineyards. The Mountain Blanco is sourced from old, bush-trained Moscatel de Alejandría vines—some planted as early as 1974—perched on incredibly steep, non-terraced slate slopes between 500 and 1,000 meters in altitude. These unique sites, located around the villages of Cómpeta and Árchez, feature shallow stony soils and are often co-farmed with olive trees, contributing to the wine's intense aromatic profile and distinct saline minerality.
