About The Producer:

The family run estate was established during the first half of the 17th century. Jean-Pierre and wife Corrine are the 12th generation of winemakers and grow 5 different varietals all native to Saint Purçain on their 35-hectare property. The vines are located on the slopes of an old volcanic mountain range in the Auvergne region where they thrive. Famille Laurent gained the attention of neighbors and helped elevate the region, which eventually gained AOC status in 2009.

Impressions:

Not the most notable pocket of the Loire Valley with only a mere 600 hectares of vines planted, but the cuvees coming out of the region are nothing to be overlooked with their mouthwatering palate and delicate floral aromas. Notes of brandied cherries, blackberry bramble, red cherry, and black currant, drift from the glass as cassis and potting soil evolve from underneath. Moderate acidity greets the palate that dances with a lean body before a dry finish takes over with lasting notes of black pepper. Pair with Duck à l’orange, or roasted carrots with fresh herbs
