Established in 1974 by Joël and his wife Sylvie, Domaine Gigou is considered an iconic producer in the tiny Jasnières appellation of France's Loire Valley. Joël is often credited with helping to save the appellation from obscurity through his focus on traditional winemaking techniques. Today, the family estate is run by their children, Ludovic and Dorothée, who continue to craft exceptional, age-worthy wines from Chenin Blanc, Pineau d'Aunis, and Gamay, all from organically farmed vineyards.
The term Sélection de Raisins Nobles means "selection of noble berries." This indicates the wine is made from grapes that have undergone botrytis, or noble rot.
