Impressions: Though lesser known for whites than reds, the quality of Savigny-les-Beaune blanc has continued its upward trend in quality, exemplified by this bottle. Highly aromatic notes of stone fruits, lemon zest, white flowers, vanilla bean and chamomile greet from the glass. The palate is immediately introduced to the wine’s concentration which is then cut by a lively acidity. This interplay eventually subsides, revealing its mineral core and slightly creamy texture. A crisp, dry and citrusy finish beckons you for an immediate second sip.
About The Producer: Since taking over the family’s estate in 1982, Giboulot's wines have straddled the line between traditional and modern, with reds that have crunchier fruit and fine tannins, but plenty of ripeness and purity. The whites are done in a feminine style with rounder fruit and a certain elegance that lingers long on the palate. His domaine holdings outside of Savigny are some of the best in the region with eastern exposures that allow for full ripeness and plumpness of flavor."
