Notes from Becky Wasserman Co.:
"Soil of red clay 30 to 50 cm deep on limestone bedrock.
100% de-stemmed, 15 to 20 days ambient yeast fermentation and maceration in open wooden vats. Aged for 18 months in barrel (15% new oak). Racked twice. Transferred in April to stainless steel tanks to age for 3 additional months. Bottled in June-July. SO2 additions before fermentation and before bottling."
Wine Advocate:
"The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses is beautifully sensual and perfumed, bursting from the glass with notes of ripe berries, peonies, orange zest, exotic spices and licorice. Full-bodied, ample and layered, it's supple and unctuous, with a sweet core of fruit, richly melting tannins and a long, saline finish.
Mugnier's 2023s are open and expressive, with an obvious crescendo in depth and concentration as one ascends the appellation hierarchy, culminating with the sensual, fragrant Amoureuses and Musigny. As usual, the abundant crop was entirely destemmed before classic cuvaisons, followed by maturation in minimal percentages of new oak."
