Notes from Becky Wasserman Co.:
"Planted in the 1910s and 1980s. Facing east, limestone-clay soil with oolithic limestone pebbles.
100% de-stemmed, 15-20 day ambient yeast fermentation in open wooden vats. Aged for 18 months in barrel (15% new oak). Racked twice. Transferred in April to stainless steel tanks to age for 3 additional months. Bottled in June-July. SO2 additions before fermentation and before bottling."
Wine Advocate:
"The 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale has turned out beautifully, unwinding in the glass with scents of red berries, plums, orange rind, sweet spices and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, ample and concentrated, with powdery tannins and lively acids, it's firmer and chalkier than its Chambolle counterparts, and it will require a bit of patience."
