Notes from Becky Wasserman Co.:
"2 different lieux-dit, La Combe d'Orvaux and 1er Cru Les Plantes, both facing east, with mostly limestone soil.
100% de-stemmed. Ambient yeast fermentation in open wooden vats. Aged for 18 months in barrel (15% new). Racked twice. Transferred in April to stainless steel tanks to age for 3 additional months. Bottled in June-July. SO2 additions before fermentation and before bottling."
Wine Advocate:
"Pretty aromas of berries, plums and cherries mingled with hints of vine smoke introduce Mugnier's 2023 Chambolle-Musigny Village, a medium-bodied, soft and fleshy wine that's supple and giving, concluding with a sapid, discreetly carnal finish.
Mugnier's 2023s are open and expressive, with an obvious crescendo in depth and concentration as one ascends the appellation hierarchy, culminating with the sensual, fragrant Amoureuses and Musigny. As usual, the abundant crop was entirely destemmed before classic cuvaisons, followed by maturation in minimal percentages of new oak."
