Notes from Becky Wasserman Co.:
"Narrow strip of vineyard along the top of the slope. 100% de-stemmed, 15 to 20 days ambient yeast fermentation and maceration in open wooden vats. Aged for 18 months in barrel (15% new oak). Racked twice. Transferred in April to stainless steel tanks to age for 3 additional months. Bottled in June-July. SO2 additions before fermentation and before bottling."
Wine Advocate:
"The 2023 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is more structured than the Fuées, though it remains a comparatively soft, open-knit rendition of this wine, offering up notes of dark berry fruits mingled with orange zest, exotic spices and petals. Medium to full-bodied, with a pillowy core of fruit, fine tannins and a saline, mineral finish, it will offer a broad drinking window.
Mugnier's 2023s are open and expressive, with an obvious crescendo in depth and concentration as one ascends the appellation hierarchy, culminating with the sensual, fragrant Amoureuses and Musigny. As usual, the abundant crop was entirely destemmed before classic cuvaisons, followed by maturation in minimal percentages of new oak."
