Hervé Villemade took over his family’s estate in 1995, famously transitioning the Cellettes-based domaine to organic viticulture after being inspired by the natural wine philosophies of Marcel Lapierre. Located in the heart of the Cheverny AOC, the estate focuses on low-intervention techniques, using native yeasts and minimal sulfur to express the authentic character of the Loire Valley. The 2023 Cheverny Blanc is 70% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Chardonnay sourced from estate-owned plots featuring diverse soil profiles of silica, clay, and sand, where vines ranging from 10 to 40 years old are hand-harvested to preserve the fruit's integrity.
