Verduno plays an important role in Barolo as it was once the epicenter for the region and credited with creating the first dry Nebbiolo wines that we know today. Its unofficial slogan as “the king of wines, and the wine of kings” was born out of the preference for these Verduno wines among the reigning monarchies. The Alessandria’s have deep roots in the region dating back to this monarchic mid-19th century era. It seems Verduno has been reclaiming its past glory with each vintage.
Notes from Fratelli Alessandria:
"The Monvigliero hill is historically recognized as the "grand cru" of Verduno and one of the most representative of the entire Barolo area. Our vineyard is over 35 years old, at an altitude of about 320 meters and faces south.
The result is an austere but elegant wine, which has its distinctive characteristics in the aromatic complexity and gustatory depth."
