Verduno plays an important role in Barolo as it was once the epicenter for the region and credited with creating the first dry Nebbiolo wines that we know today. Its unofficial slogan as “the king of wines, and the wine of kings” was born out of the preference for these Verduno wines among the reigning monarchies. The Alessandria’s have deep roots in the region dating back to this monarchic mid-19th century era.
"Smooth, ripe and pliant, with a fresh strawberry and juicy, pulpy frame. Here, a higher presence of ripe tannins and a hint of cocoa add an extra edge to the limpid ruby fruits and sculpted finish. San Lorenzo is the lower continuation of Monvigliero. It has the same south facing exposition but generally produces wines with an extra layer of lovely glossy fruit thanks to siltier soils. Alessandria has 0.8ha here. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in 25hl Slavonian oak cask for three years."
