Le Grappin was established in 2011 by Australian-born Andrew Nielsen and his wife, Emma. As a micro-négociant based in Beaune, the company's ethos is to seek out unique and often overlooked sites in Burgundy and the wider region. The Du Grappin wines represent their more accessible, "vins de soif" collection, known for their lively and expressive character. Using a low-intervention approach in their ancient cellar, the Nielsens handcraft wines that capture the essence of their distinct origins.
The Aligoté grapes for Du Grappin are sourced from a single vineyard site, the south-facing "Les Enceints" plot located in Pierreclos in the Mâconnaise region. The vines, over 80 years old, are rooted in Bathonian limestone-marl soil, a terroir known for producing high-quality Chardonnay but also showcasing the best of the golden-skinned Aligoté Doré.
