Domaine Pignier is a historic estate in the Jura village of Montaigu, with cellars and winemaking roots dating back to 13th-century Carthusian monks. The Pignier family has owned the estate since 1794, and it is currently managed by seventh-generation siblings Jean-Etienne, Antoine, and Marie-Florence, with the eighth generation now entering the business. The estate is a pioneer in biodynamic viticulture, having earned Demeter certification in 2003 for its 13-15 hectares of vines. They are uniquely the only winegrowers in their village, allowing them to maintain a pristine ecosystem where they produce pure, expressive wines using indigenous yeasts and minimal intervention.
